Kung Fu 功夫.

Shaolin kung fu has its origins in the fifth century. It began in the temple where the monks sought to find and develop a mind/body discipline. In addition to the self-defense techniques and fighting styles, Kung fu also has many mental exercises and stamina practices that are designed to balance the whole body. Kung fu is fundamentally about aligning the character with morality and respect.

Tai Chi 洗髓经.

Tai Chi is known to clear the mind, increase balance and concentration, and to improve the quality of all essential functions – like sleep, digestion, and breathing. Shaolin Temple Torrance now offers classes that will immerse you in the most essential form of Tai Chi – called Xi Sui Jing, or Bone Marrow Cleansing. This form of Tai Chi cleanses you from your deepest core, improving both your physical and spiritual strength.

Yoga 瑜伽.

Hungrymonk yoga is based on the five elements: Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth. This form of yoga is to improve your body, inside and out. The physical movements develop the Jing, the Chi, and the Shen. Jing is the life force located in the core of the body. Chi is the energy – the breath of life. Shen is the combination of Jing and Chi; it is the divine power, or the supernatural healing energy.
